Shae raised her bow up in front of her, fingers pulling the arrow back against taut string. Carefully, she aimed at the creature lurking in the depths of the bush in front of her.
At last she had it trained between the animal's glowing amber eyes and let go. Her dark-stained arrow sped through the air and buried itself into the beast. She heard a thud as it slumped to the ground, and seperated the branches of the thick bush to find a wolf-like thing stretched across the ground. She retrieved her arrow before grabbing the small animal, then made her way out of the forest towards her camp site, which was down a steep slope.
Although the creature was small, it was extremely heavy, and just as Shae took a step down the grassy slope, she slipped on the dew still moistening the grass and fell. Automatically, she let go of her once was meal and curled into a ball.
Finally, she reached the bottom and painfully opened her eyes, wincing as her wrist protested strongly when she tried to push herself to her feet. She took one last look at the thing on the hill, then hobbled away into the valley she now lived in, cradling her wrist as she went.
